In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is. - Jan L.A. van de Snepscheut

Computers

My current machines are an AMD64 3200+ running Kubuntu 6.06 and a Athlon 1.2 GHz running Windows XP (which I only use for games, Photoshop and Office when OpenOffice can't handle something.

I should use this section to write down all the Linux fixes I have had to use over the years...I'll get around to it later.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade is a great game. Everyone should play it (except for kids). Look for my friend Jordy in the credits. ;)

Zometool

120-cell

A 6-foot high expanded 120-cell that I and my family built during Christmas 2003. It took about 3 days of sporadic work. You can see the axes of 3- and 5-fold symmetry. Note that because I only had pieces of size 2 and 3, and was forced to build such a large version of the cell, I had to put vertical struts in the centre to support the weight. They spoil some of the symmetry, but when I removed them after these pictures were taken, the bottom half crumbled.

Here is me for scale. I am 6'2" (186 cm) tall.

Construction Photos There's a picture on this site of a smaller expanded 120-cell.
Zometool "Catalogue" This page lists the required number of struts and connectors to build various polyhedra. It is maintained by a member of the group who made the expanded 120-cell.

Zometool kit suggestion

I think we need a size of Zometool that's one level smaller than that currently available. It may be to hard to squeeze the pieces together then, but that problem can be ignored in the traditional spirit of not thinking things through.

This is the logo I made for the Zometool suggestion contest.
